About Us
Why?
Because our beloved pets have died in cases when it should not have happened
That's why.
Doing research, we found one hospital that hired an inexperienced veterinarian just because they needed more help. The person they hired had been written up in another state by their veterinarian board for negligence, more than once, and one of them resulted in the death of a pet. These are just from a few pet owners that actually reported them to that board. How many cases did this happen in that state that were not reported to the board? This was public information and only took around 10 minutes to find online.
We spoke to one local pet owner whose pet was completely misdiagnosed by an inexperienced veterinarian and when another veterinarian looked at the pet, the issue was so obvious. There was really no excuse for this to happen. This delayed the pet for weeks in getting the proper treatment that was really needed right away. Later on, that pet died after a common surgery that would have finally cured the pet's issue. The sad part, it was almost unheard of a pet dying from this particular surgery according to a few experienced veterinarians. So what really happened? There is probably a reason but the pet owner will never know. If this issue had been diagnosed correctly the first time, it may have never gotten to that point. But unfortunately for the owner, it did not, and they ended up losing their beloved pet.
We are not referring to routine visits like vaccine shots, teeth cleaning, nails trimmed, grooming services, general check ups, follow-ups, blood work, or a spay or neuter etc. You will always get the best treatment you would expect. Everyone you speak to will be nice and friendly to you and your pet with these types of visits, they want you to come back for more of these services. Some animal hospitals would be better off if that is all they would do and not take on too many clients they cannot handle.
The problem we have seen by some pet owners is that when their pet develops an issue or illness that needs proper care or a surgery that has to be performed in a timely manner, some hospitals in this area will not be there for them and some just really do not want to deal with it. Even some long time customers have been turned away when their pet needs help. Some of those pets died because of this. For some others, instead of taking the time to discuss any issue with the pets owner, make a recommendation or even explain why a procedure they recommend is best for your pet, the hospital will just not take the time to do it. You end up briefly talking to some tech or secretary on the phone and not an actual doctor. That does not help you at all.
The majority of good reviews you read on some websites are only based on these routine visits, nothing else. Any animal hospital should be able to get a routine visit right. Let's hope so anyway. Pay attention to the bad reviews. There is always a reason and unfortunately, many people do not bother to write about their bad experiences because they do not want their names published. You can be assured that we will not publish anything without your permission.
We are not associated with any veterinarian hospital, nor do we want to be. Anything written on this website is based on actual experiences, from the experiences of other pet owners we have spoken to in this area, some in other areas and other veterinarians privately. We are not singling out any particular hospital or trying to hurt anyone's reputation. We are just trying to determine if this is happening often in this area in cases where it should not be, mainly due to a lack of experience or if any procedure does not go exactly as planned. When certain situations develop, some of these veterinarians have no idea what to do. The real world is not always done out of a textbook. As a pet owner, you will be the one suffering in a case like this when you no longer have your pet.
We understand everyone is human, no one is perfect, but if people's beloved pets die on a common surgery, and this is happening often at certain hospitals and could have been avoided, this needs to be addressed and find out why so that another pet is not lost for no apparent reason. If your animal hospital does not have these issues, then many pet owners will wish they had found you.
Many pets are being lost in the system due to a shortage of good veterinarians and a lack of surgeons that could resolve most pet issues, but because their schedules are so booked, your pet does not get the care it really needs from the people that can help them the most and in worst cases, your pet ends up dying as a result of it. When speaking to even experienced veterinarians, they have shared these concerns. You may also find out that when your pet is really in need of care, there might not be anyone available around here that will help them. The animal hospital may try to send you hours away to another animal hospital that is already booked for months just for an evaluation. A lot of good that does. No one at that hospital will even take the time to discuss any issue with you. At this point, you are on your own to find help for your beloved pet. Things like this do happen here. Even if you try to plan ahead, it can still happen. We have found that out.
One thing some veterinarians do not understand is that the loss of a patient may bother them or upset them, but they have to move on to the next patient. It is their job. That feeling for them is usually only temporary and nothing even close to what the pet owner feels. For some pet owners, losing a pet can be as traumatic as losing a child and it makes it even that much harder, especially when it probably should not have happened and could have been avoided. The pet owner has to live with that every single day. Others may look at it differently, but for some people that are so close to their pets, it can be very traumatizing and devastating in a way that many will never understand.
More to come later... All in due time...
